JOB: Completely overhaul this hillside garden and create plenty of room for garden table and chairs plus portable BBQ, etc. Created two terraces to overcome the steepness of the hillside.

I put the curve in the top terrace wall to maximise surface area to make space for a larger table and chairs...that design tweak was inspired by Andy Goldsworthy's Sheepfolds sculptures in Cumbria!

Drystone walls were actually two skin walls, another wall built behind with mortar. This created one extra strong retaining wall to handle forces from the hillside.

We dug out a considerable amount of soil and created a 100mm sub-base (foundation) of hardcore and a 50mm mortar bed for the paved areas to give them more stability.

The steps were made using reclaimed Yorkstone cills.
